Find yourself on the Xmas ‘naughty list’? Then you deserve to sit back and watch the TV with this camp holiday treat to all the good and naughty boys alike. Filmed in front of a live audience in a style that recalls that all-star festive specials of the 60s and 70s, Making The Yuletide Gay: A Very Special Paul Lynde Christmas is a Hollywood-style spoof TV special from Sky Rockett Productions and written by Emmy award-winning comedian and gay icon Bruce Vilanch, a regular gag writer for Johnny Carson and David Letterman.
The all-star cast features Michael Airington as the smirking catty Paul Lynde, the popular American comedian who’s best known as Uncle Arthur from Bewitched and the voice of the Hooded Claw in The Perils of Penelope Pitstop. His house guests include Tab Hunter (played by Spencer Day), Sal Mineo (David Hernadez), Bea Arthur (Jackie Beat), Liberace (David Malocco), Evie Harris (Jack Plotnick) as well as Seth Rudetsky, Jackie Beat and Wigstock’s legendary Lady Bunny as themselves. Watch out for those high-kicking dancing elves too, who are more than Santa’s little helpers.
An outrageously funny variety show with a generous helping of Carry On sauce, Making the Yuletide Gay: A Very Special Paul Lynde Christmas is a musical romp takes your favourite queer legends of today and yesterday all trimmed with tinsel, mock ad breaks and original music and lyrics by Emmy-award-winning composer and arranger, Dominic Messinger. As Liberace tickles his ivories, the drinks keep flowing laced with double entendres and there’s plenty of old Christmas favourites sung with new lyrics to make your grandmother blush. It’s sure to bring extra Christmas queer and merriment to the panto season.
