Nobody Wants This – Season 2
Los Angeles is feeling the love in the latest season of Nobody Wants This.
From the bustling Miracle Mile and the storied streets of Los Feliz to the charming corners of Hancock Park, the Netflix rom-com filmed almost entirely on location in and around the city of Angels for the second season.
Many locations served as backdrops to Joanne and Noah’s latest romantic misadventures, including the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, Griffith Park, Sinai Temple, Highland Park Bowl, vintage store Jet Rag, Lake Hollywood Park, the Urban Light sculpture at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Van Nuys High School, Museum of East Lost Angeles and Michelin-starred restaurant Osteria Mozza.
Nobody Wants This fans can even recreate Noah, Joanne, Morgan and Dr. Andy’s romantic — or should we say chaotic? — Valentine’s Day double date and make pasta at Osteria Mozza via Airbnb Originals.
“It was very important for me to show LA in a way that represented these characters’ personalities,” says creator and executive producer Erin Foster, who was born and raised in Los Angeles. Take a tour of local spots that inspired the series with Foster and her sister, executive producer Sara Foster, here.
Behind the scenes, everybody wanted to help out, with more than 175 cast and crew working on the 50-day production.
In addition to the many vendors who worked behind the scenes, local businesses got a lot of love onscreen. In addition to giving shoutouts to Los Angeles staples like Home State this season, production recreated an actual Farmers Market with 15 real local businesses including Jon & Vinny’s, Cookbook, El Machete Hot Sauce, Everything Succulents, Harry’s Berries, Miller Family Farms, Nuvo Olive Oil and Social Hummus. The vendors worked as background actors in the scene and actually sold their goods to the crew during production.
And it’s not just the sights of Los Angeles getting the spotlight treatment — it’s also the sounds. The Season 2 soundtrack also features needle drops from several Los Angeles-born artists such as FINNEAS and Cuco, following in the footsteps of local Season 1 musicians like HAIM, Gracie Abrams, Hailee Steinfeld and Olivia Kaplan.
To celebrate the premiere of Season 2, we invited fans to a special Nobody Wants This block party at NYA Studios East. The one-day pop-up experience featured a tarot card reader, tunes from DJ Kara and the live comedy show UpDating. Fans were able to step into Noah and Joanne’s love bubble with interactive installations like customizable couples stationary and necklace engraving; photo opps such as the Matzah Ballers basketball court and Lynn’s outdoor sauna; bites from local favorites like Guisados, Shappy’s Pretzels, La Sorted’s Pizza and Creamy Boys; and exclusive merch and giveaways including “I Can Handle You” tote bags and Matzah Baller foam fingers.
The second season of Nobody Wants This premiered on October 23 and is stealing hearts once again, landing at #1 on the Global English TV Top 10 list for its first two weeks. The latest season is now at 22.4M views through its first 18 days and has reached the Top 10 in 82 countries. Fans also relived the couple’s meet-cute, bringing Season 1 back into the top 10 list and up to #7. Season 1 has now spent eight total weeks in the Top 10 and reached the top 10 in 89 countries.
And Joanne and Noah aren’t going anywhere. The series was recently renewed for a third season, which will once again shoot in Los Angeles. Nobody Wants This is just one of several Netflix comedy series to call Los Angeles home, along with Leanne, Running Point and the upcoming second season of A Man on the Inside.
