Blu-ray Sales: July 2-8

For the week that ended on July 8th, Lionsgate Home Entertainment’s John Wick: Chapter 4 reclaimed the top spot on the Blu-ray-only chart The fourth installment in the John Wick series saw the titular hitman in yet more outrageous gun battles and fight sequences, as he takes revenge on the High Table over a whopping 169 minutes of nearly non-stop action. The film opened in March 2023 to near-universal acclaim and topped the box office on its opening weekend, with over $73 million. So far, the film has made over $187 million domestically and over $427 million globally. This week, John Wick: Chapter 4 had an HD share of 67%, with 19% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.

Rising to second place on the Blu-ray-only chart is Universal Pictures Home Entertainment’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Released theatrically in April 2023, the animated adaptation of the hugely popular Nintendo video game series received mixed reviews, but smashed several box office records, including taking only a week to become the highest-grossing film based on a video game and becoming the highest-grossing film of 2023, with over $573 million domestically and a staggering $1.3 billion worldwide. This week, The Super Mario Bros. Movie sold 92% as many Blu-ray units as John Wick: Chapter 4, with an HD share of 57% and 11% of units sold from the 4K UHD format…
