Disney+ Commences Filming on Breslau

LONDON, U.K. (14 May 2024) – Today, Disney+ announced the start of production of “Breslau” (working title), the first Polish Original production for the service. The cast includes, among others, Tomasz Schuchardt (“Jesteś Bogiem”, “Chrzest”), Agata Kulesza (“Róża”, “Ida”) and Sandra Drzymalska (“EO”, “Filip”). The series is directed by Leszek Dawid (“Jesteś Bogiem”, “Ki”). Bartosz Janiszewski and Magdalena Żakowska are responsible for the screenwriting.

The eight-part crime drama is set in Breslau in year 1936. It tells the story of a police commissioner Franz Podolsky, who investigates a brutal murder. Because of the upcoming Olympic Games, the pressure to catch the murderer is immense.

“This is an important moment for Disney+ in Poland. It’s our first Original production in Central and Eastern Europe and we are excited that such talented, and experienced creators and actors are working on the project. We are also happy that our first Polish series will further expand the offer of productions intended for wider audience” – said Magdalena Cieslak, Director Original Productions Disney+ in CEE.

Producing the series is ATM Grupa, the largest independent production studio in Poland, award-winning, and specializing in feature productions. Achievements include “Wataha”, “Zachowaj spokój”, “Absolutni debiutanci”.

“Breslau” (working title) is produced in Poland with financial support granted by the Polish Film Institute from the funds of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage.
