Booker prize-winner Marlon James, along with the cast of the crime series Get Millie Black, visit BFI Southbank to talk about the Jamaica-set show.

From award-winning writer Marlon James, Get Millie Black follows ex-Scotland Yard detective Millie-Jean Black (Tamara Lawrance), who returns home to Jamaica after her mother’s passing and joins the Kingston police force. When a local schoolgirl disappears, Millie and her partner Curtis (Gershwyn Eustache Jnr) uncover suspicious ties to a prominent family, just as Scotland Yard inspector Luke Holborn (Joe Dempsie) arrives with his own agenda.

Haunted by ghosts of her past and present – including a sibling who refuses to be saved and a child who can’t be found – Millie’s search for the truth leads her on an intercontinental cat-and-mouse chase. Set against the post-colonial landscape of Jamaica and the United Kingdom, this gripping contemporary noir thriller follows one unforgettable woman’s determination to crack a case that could blow her world apart.
