Matthew Bourne and Ashley Shaw | BFI Q&A

Choreographer Matthew Bourne (@matthewbourne13) and ballet dancer Ashley Shaw (@asharella14) visit the BFI Southbank to talk about the film that inspired Bourne’s adaptation, The Red Shoes.

A testament to the longstanding love affair between dance and cinema, Bourne’s production is an homage to Powell and Pressburger’s rapturous masterpiece. Bourne skilfully transposes the film to the stage, while also introducing some delightful new surprises, as only he and the New Adventures company can deliver. It features a rich score based on the music of Bernard Herrmann as well as a series of intoxicating duets.
