Pre-Codes Rejected For Reissue
Once the Production Code Administration (PCA) replaced the Studio Relations Committee, all films released by MPPDA member studios, including reissues, had to have a Production Code Certificate of Approval. While many films submitted for reissue were required to “eliminate” certain scenes/shots/dialogue in order to receive the Certificate, the PCA found many films that were simply “not acceptable under the provisions of the Production Code as now interpreted.” These are some of the films that the PCA would not approve for reissue.
