MADRID—July 9, 2024—Prime Video showcased the breadth and depth of the service as part of a Prime Video Presents showcase in Spain today. The one-stop entertainment destination unveiled seven new local productions in response to the growing global demand for Spanish content, along with a raft of other announcements. The event comes on the back of a record-breaking first half of the year for Prime Video in Spain, that saw Spanish Original series Reina Roja feature in the Top 10 most-watched titles internationally at launch, and the hugely-popular Operación Triunfo become the most acquisitive Spanish Original in the history of Prime Video in Spain. Prime members in Spain enjoy savings, convenience, and entertainment, all in a single membership for just €4.99/month or best value €49.90/year. Additionally, a discounted membership option is offered to students for €24.95/year through Prime Student, which includes a 90-day free trial.

Renowned stars including Mario Casas (Tres metros sobre el cielo), Elena Anaya (La piel que habito), Malena Alterio (Aquíno hay quien viva), Najwa Nimri (La casa de papel), Anna Castillo (La llamada), and Maxi Iglesias (Los artistas: primeros trazos), and respected directors such as Dani de la Torre (La sombra de la ley) , Paula Ortiz (La novia) and Hugo Stuven (El desafío) appeared on stage alongside Ricardo Cabornero, Director, Prime Video Spain and Portugal; María José Rodríguez, Head of Spanish Originals, Prime Video Spain; and Luis Gómez, Head of TV, Prime Video Spain.

Prime Video unveiled seven new projects, adding one movie (Zeta), one scripted series (Cochinas) and three unscripted titles (Cómo cazar a un monstruoMedina: El estafador de famosos, and Infiltrada en el búnker) to its Originals line-up; and one documentary (La Joia: Bad Gyal) and one series (Punto Nemo) to the licensed and exclusive catalogue. Announcements made at the Prime Video Presents event include:

A STRONG COMMITMENT TO SPANISH CINEMA 

  • Prime members will be able to enjoy a compelling slate of high-quality local Original movies in 2024 including the action adventure Apocalipsis Z: El principio del fin, set to debut on 31 October.
  • Culpa Mía has become the most-watched international movie in Prime Video’s history globally.
  • New Original titles launching in 2025 and beyond include teen comedy Viaje de fin de curso, starring Berta Castañé and Yolanda Ramos, youth drama Enemigos with emerging actors Christian Checa and Hugo Welzel, and the action-packed thriller Zeta with acclaimed actor Mario Casas.
  • Prime Video announced its commitment to premiering two new Original movies in selected theatres across the country before launching exclusively on the streaming service. The much-awaited fact-based tale of the extraordinary and tragic life of Hildegart Rodríguez, La virgen roja, starring Nawja Nimri and Alba Planas, available in theatres on 27 September and teen drama Sigue mi voz featuring Berta Castañer and Jae Woo, set to launch in theatres on 14 February.
  • Prime Video is also committed to supporting local hit movies with strong theatrical distribution, including Odio el Verano and Cuerpo Escombro, which will be available on the service for Prime members to enjoy as part of their subscription months after their theatrical release.

DIVERSE SERIES LINEUP INCLUDING THE THIRD SEASON OF REINA ROJA AND NEW ORIGINAL COMEDY COCHINAS STARRING GOYA-AWARD WINNER ELENA ANAYA 

  • Prime Video confirmed that hit Original series Reina Roja will return for a third season, following the first season’s international success and a second season set to launch soon.
  • The service announced two new projects set to debut next year: the exciting Original comedy series Cochinas, starring Goya-award winner Elena Anaya; and action series Punto Nemo, starring a talented ensemble cast including Óscar Jaenada, Alba Flores and Maxi Iglesias.
  • Prime Video released first-looks for post-apocalyptic Original comedy series En fin set to debut this September, and the second season of Citas Barcelona launching this autumn. The service also announced that long-running comedy series La que se avecina will return for an impressive 15th season later this year.

THE RETURN OF OPERACIÓN TRIUNFO NEXT SEPTEMBER

  • Prime Video’s first ever live entertainment show and most acquisitive Spanish Original, Operación Triunfo, will return to screens for a new season in September 2025.
  • OT23: La gira, the 60-min documentary that will follow the contestants as they embark on the musical tour, is set to premiere this September, alongside a special new concert film recorded during the stop at the WiZink Center in Madrid, which will provide fans with an up-close look at the OT23 tour.

NEW TRUE CRIME & STAR-STUDDED DOCUSERIES AND RETURNING SEASONS OF FAN FAVOURITES

  • Prime Video announced three new true-crime Original docuseries: Cómo cazar a un monstruo, which follows the story of YouTuber and filmmaker Carles Tamayo as he tries to seek justice in the face of the impunity for a child molester living outside the law, launching on 6 September;Medina: El estafador de famosos, about the alleged celebrity scammer Antonio Medina, set to launch in October; and Infiltrada en el búnker, about the longest infiltration of a European pharmaceutical lab, due next year.
  • La Joia: Bad Gyal, which follows the hit singer on her latest tour will premiere exclusively on Prime Video later this year.
  • Prime members can also look forward to new seasons of fan-favourite title Pombo, which will return for a fourth season after its third instalment premieres in October, and popular docuseries Dulceida: Al desnudo, also set to come back for a second season next year, focusing on stars Aida and Alba’s journey into motherhood.
  • Prime Video also released first-looks for Elías León Siminiani’s El Circo de los Muchachos launching this November, and the docuseries Calleja en el espacio that will see the popular adventurer, Jesús Calleja, become the first Spanish non-astronaut to go into space, and is set to debut soon on Prime Video. The service also released the trailer for Courtois: la vuelta del número 1, which will premiere on 20 September.
