Revelations From Director Yeon Sang-ho
Renowned for crafting stories with sharp social commentary on human nature, director Yeon Sang-ho teams up again with writer Choi Gyu-seok in the upcoming film Revelations, following their collaboration on Hellbound. Premiering March 21, the story follows a pastor who believes punishing the culprit behind a missing-person case is his divine mission, and a detective haunted by visions of her dead sister, each pursuing their own truths. Alfonso Cuarón, the acclaimed director of Roma and Gravity, participated as executive producer of the film.
The teaser trailer, unveiled today, evokes a dark, suspenseful atmosphere with psychological thriller undertones. It begins with the disappearance of a young churchgoer where Min-chan (Ryu Jun-yeol) serves as pastor. Min-chan receives a divine revelation that Kwon Yang-rae (Shin Min-jae), an ex-convict who coincidentally visited the church, is the culprit, and begins his chase after him. Meanwhile, detective Yeon-hui (Shin Hyun-been), tormented by visions of her deceased sister, is assigned to the case and suspects something suspicious between Min-chan and Yang-rae. As Min-chan and Yeon-hui each pursue their own truths, tensions rise and conflicts ignite. The ensemble cast fully immerses themselves in their roles, promising a captivating experience that will resonate with audiences.
The main poster of Revelations features the trio in different parts of a rain-soaked forest, gazing in different directions as if searching for something, hinting at the clash of faith and choices that will shape the plot. Something unidentifiable lurks in the dark between the trees, sparking curiosity about the twists and turns in store for the fans.
Revelations, directed by Yeon Sang-ho and executive produced by Alfonso Cuarón, premieres on March 21, only on Netflix.
