Three Blind Mice (1938)
After receiving a small inheritance, sisters Pam (Loretta Young), Moira (Marjorie Weaver) and Liz Charters (Pauline Moore) leave their farm and travel to California in search of wealthy husbands. Moira falls in love with a bartender. But, pretending to be rich, Pam lures aristocratic Van Dam Smith (Joel McCrea) and Liz finds rancher Steve Harrington (David Niven). Pam and Liz accompany Van and Steve to Steve’s ranch, where they learn that they aren’t the only charlatans.
