In a thrilling turn of events, “Leave the World Behind,” the gripping apocalyptic thriller directed by Sam Esmail and featuring an all-star cast including Julia Roberts, Ethan Hawke, Mahershala Ali, and Myha’la, has soared to the top of the English Films List. Garnering a staggering 41.7 million views, it has become the most-watched title of the week, leaving audiences captivated and on the edge of their seats. Meanwhile, family-friendly films also made a splash, with the body-swap comedy “Family Switch,” starring Jennifer Garner and Ed Helms, securing the second spot with 18.6 million views. Adam Sandler’s animated masterpiece, “Leo,” claimed third place in its third week, accumulating a total of 72.4 million views since its release. Rounding out the top four is the highly anticipated “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” with 13.2 million views.
The excitement continued on the English TV List, as viewers flocked to the raunchy and action-packed comedy “Obliterated,” propelling it to the number one position with 9 million views in its second week. Making its debut and causing quite a stir on TikTok, the swoon-worthy YA drama “My Life with the Walter Boys” claimed the second spot with 7.5 million views. The thrilling reality competition series “Squid Game: The Challenge,” which recently crowned its first winner, secured third place with 6.6 million views. Additionally, the sixth and final season of the critically acclaimed series “The Crown” found itself in sixth place, while the fifth season of “Virgin River” maintained its popularity in eighth place, even after eight weeks on the list.
The Non-English TV List saw a wave of impressive debuts. The gritty crime drama “Blood Coast” from France seized the top spot with 5.6 million views, captivating audiences with its compelling storyline. The romantic comedy “Welcome to Samdal-ri” from Korea charmed viewers and claimed the fifth spot with 2.3 million views. Season 2 of the beloved romance “I Hate Christmas” from Italy found its place at number nine with 1.1 million views, while the YA drama “High Tides” from Belgium rounded out the list at number ten, also with 1.1 million views.
The Non-English Films List showcased strong launches as well. “The Archies,” a highly anticipated comic adaptation from India, made its debut at an impressive third place, garnering 2.2 million views. The film’s Mumbai premiere witnessed an unprecedented show of support from Bollywood’s biggest stars, further adding to its success. The action thriller “Hard Days” from Japan fought its way into the ninth spot with 1.3 million views, while the gripping drama thriller “Blood Vessel” from Nigeria secured the tenth spot with 1.2 million views, leaving audiences enthralled and hungry for more.
