New to BBC iPlayer this week (7-13 October) we have a new adaptation of Anne Rice’s best-selling novel, Interview with the Vampire, and there’s heartfelt comedy in Love Victor. Factual drama The Reckoning is available to watch from Monday 9 October.Documentary series First Ladies of Hip-Hop looks at the evolution of the musical genre while Eva Longoria’s Searching for Mexico takes us on a culinary journey. Scars: Surviving a Stabbing is a new psychological investigation series and The Crash Detectives examines road incidents across the UK.And from Friday 13 October, supernatural based investigation series Uncanny comes to our screens.

Interview With The Vampire

Adaptation of Anne Rice’s best-selling novel, following Louis de Pointe du Lac, Lestat de Lioncourt and Claudia and their epic story of love, blood and the perils of immortality, as told to journalist Daniel Molloy.Chafing at the limitations of life as a Black man in 1900s New Orleans, Louis finds it impossible to resist the rakish Lestat’s offer of the ultimate escape: joining him as his vampire companion.

The Reckoning

Factual drama tracing the life of Jimmy Savile, a man who, for decades, became one of the UK’s most influential celebrities, but in death has become one of the most reviled figures of modern history following revelations of extensive and horrific abuse. Using drama’s unique ability to place events in their emotional and historical context, the series will explore how Savile used his celebrity and powerful connections to conceal his crimes and exploit institutional failings.Four survivors of Savile who have contributed to The Reckoning will also feature in the series, interviewed on camera to offer their further insight and to reflect on their experiences in the hope that the telling of their stories will prevent something like it happening again.

Love Victor

This heartfelt and funny coming-of-age drama is inspired by and set in the same world as the 2018 film Love, Simon.Victor is a new student at Creekwood high school on a journey of self-discovery, who reaches out to Simon when it seems too difficult for him to navigate his way through high school.

First Ladies of Hip-Hop

New documentary series narrated by Neneh Cherry, revealing the untold stories of women who played a pivotal role in the birth, evolution, and success of Hip Hop, with a unique look at the widely unknown contributions of British women.

Uncanny

Based on the hit Radio 4 and BBC Sounds podcast, Uncanny features real-life stories of supernatural encounters told by the people they happened to – experiences that seem to defy logical explanation.The programme features analysis from experts, as well as investigations into possible answers.

Eva Longoria: Searching for Mexico

Journey with US actress Eva Longoria across the lands of her ancestors as she explores how Mexico’s rich culture, landscape, and history have helped shape its cuisine, loved the world over.
