Xenomorph Host Abduction / Incapacitation Explored

What happens to a host as they are kidnapped and transported into the hive? Does the alien have ways to knock you out or otherwise incapacitate you? James Cameron envisioned Xenomorphs with stinger tipped tails, while other alien stories have aliens using brute force to subjugate hosts, while others use a paralyzing saliva!
