For the week that ended on July 15th, Paramount Home Media Distribution’s Scream VI topped the Blu-ray-only chart in its debut. After the success of the fifth film, Scream (2022) last year, a sequel was quickly greenlit. The writers, directors and much of the cast all returned, though series star Neve Campbell announced in June 2022 that she would not be reprising her role as Sidney Prescott, making Scream VI the first in the series not to feature her. When the film opened in March 2023, it received positive reviews and topped the box office on its opening weekend, eventually becoming only the second film in the series (other than Scream 2) to gross over $100 million at the domestic box office. This week, Scream VI had an HD share of 65%, with 33% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.
Dropping to second place on the Blu-ray only chart is Lionsgate Home Entertainment’s John Wick: Chapter 4. The fourth installment in the John Wick series saw the titular hitman in yet more outrageous gun battles and fight sequences, as he takes revenge on the High Table over a whopping 169 minutes of nearly non-stop action. The film opened in March 2023 to near-universal acclaim and topped the box office on its opening weekend, with over $73 million, on its way to over $187 million domestically and over $426 million globally. This week, John Wick: Chapter 4 sold 96% as many Blu-ray units as Scream VI, with an HD share of 69% and 21% of units sold from the 4K UHD format…
