Disney+ Dials Up The Drama In The Breslau Murders

Disney+ has today released a new trailer and character posters for the Polish Original series, “Breslau.” All eight episodes of the crime series will premiere on the platform on September 12th.

The trailer takes a closer look at the character of Commissioner Franz Podolsky, but viewers also can see his longtime colleague, Erwin Benk (Adam Bobik), his superior, Leopold Barens (Przemysław Bluszcz), and psychoanalyst, Dr. Inga Eissmann (Karolina Gruszka). Podolsky’s wife, Lena (Sandra Drzymalska), also becomes unwittingly entangled in the criminal intrigue. The source of the pressure is Johan Holtz (Ireneusz Czop), an SS officer who wields absolute power in Breslau.

The eight-part crime drama is set in Breslau in year 1936. The 11th Olympic Games are approaching, and the eyes of the entire world are turned towards the capital of the Third Reich. Meanwhile, in Breslau, a brutal murder takes place which may ruin the whole propaganda campaign and disrupt the great sports event. The only one who can close the investigation in time is the police commissioner of Polish origin Franz Podolsky, who despises the Third Reich but feels duty-bound to bring the killer to justice. Known for his controversial but effective methods, Podolsky finds himself face to face with the emerging evil. While facing his own demons, he begins a dangerous game of cat and mouse with the murderer, threatening both his career and personal life.

The role of Franz Podolsky is played by Tomasz Schuchardt (“You Are God”, “The Christening”).The ensemble cast includes: Sandra Drzymalska („IO”, „Simona Kossak”), Ireneusz Czop („Broad Peak”, „Pokłosie”), Agata Kulesza („Róża”, „Ida”), Przemysława Bluszcza („Czas Honoru”, „Jesteś Bogiem”), Adam Bobik („Fatum”, „Pokot”), Karolina Gruszka („Kochankowie z Marony”, „Maria Skłodowska-Curie”), Jakub Sierenberg („Boże Ciało”, „Strefa interesów”), Bartłomiej Deklewa („Absolutni debiutanci”) oraz Piotr Janusz („Do dzwonka”, „Klub Włóczykijów”). The series is directed by Leszek Dawid („Jesteś Bogiem”, „Ki”), t he cinematography by Paweł Flis („Interior”, „Demon”), and the script was written by Magdalena Żakowska („Krew z krwi 3”) i Bartosz Janiszewski („Wataha”).

Producing the series is ATM Grupa, the largest independent production studio in Poland, award-winning, and specializing in feature productions. Achievements include “The Border”, “Hold Tight”, “Absolute Beginners”.

“Breslau” is produced in Poland with financial support granted by the Polish Film Institute from the funds of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage.
