While Thomas and Oscar are very much in love, after their first foster child returns to his birth mother, they find they have different ideas of what making a family actually means.
Directed by Andy Vallentine and co-written with his brother Danny, this feelgood drama features gender-fluid actor/ model Nico Tortorella (Scream 4; Trespass) Juan Pablo Di Pace (Mamma Mia! Dallas TV series 2014 reboot as well as seen on UK stage in Chicago) and Emily Hampshire who has won multiple awards for her performance as Stevie Budd in Schitt’s Creek). Actor and singer Garrett Clayton (King Cobra Teen Beach Movie) appears in the ensemble cast alongside Emmy-nominated Carl Clemons-Hopkins (Hacks)
The title of the film, The Mattachine Family, is a reference to one the first US gay rights organisation that was founded by Harry Hay in 1950 It campaigned to decriminalise homosexuality as well as defend other civil rights
