To advance his business, he attempted to influence Bolivian politics—and utilized his acquaintance with a respected German with excellent connections to the secret service, military, and politics: Klaus Altmann. His real identity is completely different, because Altmann is actually the wanted Nazi criminal Klaus Barbie, who, as the “Butcher of Lyon,” was responsible for the deaths of thousands of Jews.
