Winter Read-through Takes Place

Winter Read-through Takes Place

Please find a selection of images from the read-through of new ITV drama, Winter, starring Richard Armitage and Annabel Scholey which was held yesterday in London (Thursday 8 January).

Winter focuses upon an unconventional forensic pathologist, played by Richard Armitage (Missing You, Red Eye, Fool Me Once), whose brilliance, sharp intellect and rule-breaking approach helps the police solve some of the most complex murder cases.

Capable of impeccable deductive reasoning, Dr Ethan Winter’s skills perfectly complement DI Lauren Bell, played by Annabel Scholey (The Sixth Commandment, Rivals, The Split), a meticulous, no-nonsense detective who is as driven as Winter when working on a case.  Together they make a formidable team, as Winter’s genius and insight into the victims is invaluable to Bell and her murder squad detectives. Each episode features its own compelling, self-contained crime story, whilst a personal thread for Winter runs throughout the series.

The six-part police procedural drama is an Eagle Eye Drama production co-produced with MASTERPIECE in association with ITV Studios and Happy Duck Films.

Set in Bristol, the series begins filming in early February in Bristol and Belgium.

The series is adapted by David Allison (The Couple Next Door) and Mark Greig (Ashes to Ashes) and commissioned for ITV by Polly Hill and Callum Dziedzic, who oversees production on behalf of the broadcaster. Winter will be directed by Dries Vos (The Couple Next Door, Professor T) and Kaat Beels (Professor T, The Twelve) with Matt Baker (Professor T) producing the series. Jo McGrath and Walter Iuzzolino will executive produce the series on behalf of Eagle Eye Drama, part of ITV Studios.

The series will air on ITV and STV and be available for streaming on ITVX and STV Player.

Winter will be broadcast and streamed in the US by PBS MASTERPIECE.

MASTERPIECE is presented on PBS by GBH Boston.

Winter is supported by the Belgian Tax Shelter.

ITV Studios are responsible for the international distribution of the format.

The series is based on the television series Balthazar, created by Clothilde Jamin and Clélia Constantine and produced by Beaubourg Stories.
