Beyond the Brush
The Scream / Starry Night – Series 1, episode 1 & 2

Art historian Siân Walters and writer and content creator James Payne present this new six-part series, delving into the stories behind the canvas of the world’s most famous paintings. Each episode explores a masterpiece in depth, from Leonardo’s Last Supper to Bosch’s Garden of Earthly Delights.
In the first episode of the series, discover the story behind Edvard Munch’s ‘The Scream’. Uncover how anxiety, raw emotion, and the fragile, ever-decaying nature of his paintings came together to create one of the most haunting, yet iconic works in history.

And then, in the second half of this double-bill, uncover how a turbulent mind, a bold vision, and a small view from an asylum window created one of the most iconic paintings in history in Vincent van Gogh’s ‘Starry Night’.
